Summer Training, Fall Registrations, Training Camps and Updates

First, thank you to all of you that responded to our surveys and other information requests.  It is helpful to receive prompt responses when we are trying to gather information to make decisions for how the club needs to proceed.

The board met 6/11 & 6/25 and made the following decisions:

  1. PA West Travel Soccer Summer Session and Inhouse: We will NOT be participating in any competitive soccer external to our community this summer. We will resume competitive travel and inhouse match play in the fall. If coaches wish to pursue tournaments or other options independently that is their choice.

  2. Summer Training Opportunity: We will be offering some summer training opportunities for both inhouse and travel players/teams that are interested and available. The start date for practices is the week of July Twentieth.  Registration is OPEN, simply log-in to register! There is NO fee; however, registration is required to participate to ensure we obtain the required waivers. There is NO fee for this. The registration is simply being used to organize and track participation. It must be completed to play – no exceptions.

  3. FALL SOCCER REGISTRATION IS OPEN. It will be open until 7/24 and there will be no registrations after this date unless the club is in need. You will be required to register through this site by logging-in and paying by credit card. For those of you that opted for credits instead of refunds, you will see you have a credit balance in your account to use toward your registration. (If you are experiencing financial challenges, please email me so we can explore how we can provide assistance. We want to enable all children to play regardless of financial circumstances.)

  4. Fields: We are in the process to obtain permits to use our community park fields since the primary school district fields we normally use are still restricted at this time. Graciously, we have been given approval to use Aiken Field for the summer and fall. It is very likely we will be able to use Riehl field in Castle Shannon. We should have access to Kelton Field and the Middle School field next to the tennis courts once finalized by the athletic director. We are hopeful to have the use of Beggs Snyder as well. With the field limitations and requirements for social distancing we will need everyone’s cooperation with scheduling and using the available fields among all of the teams/age groups. We will be working out a schedule to accomplish this and are asking for your understanding if you are required to go to a field that you have not used in the past. We all need to pull together and compromise to make this work.

Please see the "Covid-19 Info and Resources" tab to familiarize yourself with KOU's Return to Play Plan Protocols and safety measures. These measures will require support from responsible parents and gaurdians willing to assist their teams. Coaches will need support with tracking attendance, health screening, ensuring hand washing and social distancing is being followed.  Please understand that we will need a few parents from each team to step up and help with these new requirements or we will not be able to safely return to play. The coaches will be unable to monitor all of this themselves. We are exploring some apps and other methods to try and manage the attendance aspect to ease some of this administrative burden. We are simply appealing for your support now for the processes we put in place.

We know we can count on your flexibility, responsibility and overall support to work with us to bring soccer back to our community.  If you have any questions or other concerns please do not hesitate to contact us!
